Everything you need to know about your Venus Versa™ treatments

BEFORE THE TREATMENT

The best candidate is someone who has an uneven complexion with signs of discoloration on their skin. Venus Versa™ photofacial treatments may also work to improve the look of fine lines.

For safety reasons, you may not be able to get this treatment if you have/are:

  • Metal or other implants in the treatment area
  • Current or history of cancer
  • Pregnant or nursing
  • Any diseases that can be stimulated by light (e.g. epilepsy)
  • History of disease that can be stimulated by heat (e.g. herpes)
  • Poorly controlled endocrine disorders (e.g. diabetes or polycystic ovary syndrome)
  • Any active condition in the treatment area (e.g. eczema, psoriasis, rash)
  • History of skin disorders, keloids, unusual wound healing, or excessively dry and/or sensitive skin
  • Any surgical procedures within the past 3 months
  • A tattoo or permanent makeup in the treatment area
  • Excessively tanned skin

Venus Versa™ photofacial treatments are powered by Intense Pulsed Light technology, which targets the pigment in your skin. They tend to work best for light to medium skin tones. The treatment may work on darker skin, but there is a higher risk of discoloration because darker skin has more pigment in it. It’s best to consult with your treatment provider to see if the treatment is right for you.

Absolutely. Exact treatment times may vary depending on the patient, but a single session typically takes 15-20 minutes.

Most patients receive 4-5 treatments per area. The exact number will depend on each individual person and the area being treated.

Treatments are done 3 weeks apart.

Make sure your skin is clean. Do not apply any lotions, creams, or makeup before your session, and stop using any products that might irritate your skin 2-3 days before. You must also avoid tanning, including with self-tanners. You may be advised to shave the area before your treatment. Remove all jewelry around the area being treated.

DURING THE TREATMENT

One session usually lasts 15-20 minutes, depending on the area being treated.

The IPL treatment feels like a light snap or flick on the surface of the skin.

The applicator has a cooling feature built into it to make the treatment as comfortable as possible, but you might feel a bit of discomfort if you’re treating a more sensitive area, like the upper lip. If you find it too uncomfortable, let the operator know and they can adjust the treatment accordingly.

AFTER THE TREATMENT

Your skin may feel warm, like a sunburn, and can remain red for anywhere from a few hours to a day. Be sure to follow instructions for before and after your treatment.

It depends on how your skin reacts to the treatment and how you care for your skin afterward. For example, if you protect your skin from the sun, the results will last longer. We recommend one touch-up session every 3-6 months, depending on how your skin responds to the treatment.

There is no downtime. You can return to your daily schedule immediately after your treatment.

Avoid tanning for at least 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after your treatment, and wear sunscreen. You should also avoid hot baths, massages, or any treatment that requires direct contact with the skin for the first 2 days after your treatment.

Yes, you can apply makeup immediately after your treatment, but make sure you put on sunscreen first.

BEFORE THE TREATMENT

The best candidate for Venus Versa™ acne treatments is someone who has acne and/or acne-related inflammation on the face or body.

Venus Versa™ acne treatments are powered by Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology, which targets the pigment in your skin.

Most patients receive a total of 8-10 treatments.

Treatments are usually done twice a week for a month. Make sure the treatments are scheduled 3-4 days apart.

Make sure your skin is clean. Do not apply any lotions, creams, or makeup before your session, and stop using any products that might irritate your skin 2-3 days before. You should also avoid tanning, including with self-tanners.

Your skin can feel warm, like a sunburn, with some redness, but other than that, you really shouldn’t feel any different if you follow instructions for before and after your treatment.

It depends on the severity of your acne and how well you take care of your skin after your treatment. We recommend a touch-up session twice a month, then monthly. Once the acne starts clearing up, you can increase the time between maintenance treatments depending on how your skin responds.

There is no downtime. You can return to your daily schedule immediately after your treatment.

Avoid tanning for at least 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after your treatment, and wear sunscreen (at least SPF 30). You should also avoid hot baths, massages, or any treatment that requires direct contact with the skin for the first 2 days after your treatment. If you notice any blisters or scabbing, treat it with a prescribed antibiotic cream—always consult with your treatment provider first. You can go back to gentle washing and using gentle, non-irritating skin care products immediately afterward.

Yes, you can apply makeup immediately after your treatment, but make sure you put on sunscreen first.

BEFORE THE TREATMENT

Venus Versa™ hair removal treatments are for individuals who want to permanently reduce unwanted hair on their face or body because they’re tired of the conventional methods that only yield temporary results. You may not be able to get this hair removal treatment if you have/are:

Venus Versa™ hair removal treatments are powered by Intense Pulsed Light technology, which targets the pigment under the skin’s surface. They tend to work best for light to medium skin tones with darker hair. The treatment may work on darker skin tones, but there is a higher risk of discoloration because darker skin has more pigment in it. It may also not work on very light hair, because the hair doesn’t have enough pigment in it to absorb the light. It’s best to consult with your treatment provider to see if the treatment is right for you. They will perform a test spot and wait between 15 minutes to 48 hours, depending on your complexion, to assess your skin’s reaction.

Perhaps—it depends on what part of the body you’re getting treated. If it’s a smaller area, it may only take as little as 15-30 minutes. A larger area, like two full legs, may take up to 60 minutes.

You’ll likely need 6-10 treatments per area. Hair grows in different stages and at different rates for everyone, so it depends again on each individual person and the area being treated.

Treatments are done 4-6 weeks apart for the face and 4-8 weeks apart for the body.

Make sure your skin is clean. Do not apply any lotions, creams, or makeup before your session, and stop using any products that might irritate your skin 2-3 days before. Remove all jewelry around the area being treated. The technician will shave and clean the area before starting your treatment. They may ask about your medical history, so it helps to have that information ready. You should also avoid tanning before your treatment.

DURING THE TREATMENT

It depends on where you’re getting the treatment—an upper lip will be much faster than both legs.

You’ll feel some heat in the area, but this will only last a short while, thanks to the real-time cooling system that kicks in right away to help minimize discomfort. The treatment itself feels like the light snap with an elastic band against your skin as the applicator moves around the treatment area.

The applicator has a built-in cooling feature to make the treatment as comfortable as possible, but you might feel a bit of discomfort if you’re treating a more sensitive area, like along the bikini line. If you find it too uncomfortable, let your treatment provider know and they can adjust the settings accordingly.

AFTER THE TREATMENT

Your skin may look dry and feel a little itchy because the operator has to dry-shave the area before starting the treatment. Moisturizing can help relieve the itch. Other than that, you shouldn’t really feel any different after your treatment.

It depends on how your hair grows. Some people may see longer-lasting hair removal, while others who see sporadic hair growth in the area may need touch-up treatments to maintain the results.

There is no downtime. You can return to your daily schedule immediately after your treatment.

Be sure to gently clean the treated area twice a day and apply sunscreen; however, avoid excessive sun exposure. You should also avoid hot baths, massages, or any treatment that requires direct contact with the skin for the first 2 days after your treatment. Avoid tanning for at least 2 weeks before and 2 weeks afterward.

Yes, you can apply makeup immediately after your treatment, but make sure you put on sunscreen first.

BEFORE THE TREATMENT

The ideal candidate for Venus Versa™ skin resurfacing treatments is anyone who shows signs of skin damage, such as scars from acne or injury, stretch marks, enlarged pores, deep wrinkles, and uneven skin texture or pigmentation. For safety reasons, you may not be able to get this treatment if you have/are:

  • An Internal defibrillator/pacemaker or any other active electrical implant in the body
  • Any permanent implant or injected substance around the treatment area
  • Any active conditions in the treatment area (e.g. rash)
  • History of skin disorders or very dry skin
  • Current or history of cancer (including pre-malignant moles)
  • Severe concurrent conditions (e.g. cardiac disorders)
  • Pregnant or nursing
  • An impaired immune system
  • A history of disease around the treatment area that’s stimulated by heat (e.g. herpes)
  • Poorly controlled endocrine disorders (e.g. diabetes)
  • Taking blood thinners
  • Had a face lift or eyelid surgery within the past 3 months
  • Had any resurfacing treatments or chemical peels within the past 3 months
  • Had any cosmetic injections within the past 2 weeks
  • Consumed any Advil, Tylenol or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs within the past week of your treatment
  • Any surgeries within the past 6 months
  • Treating over tattoos or permanent makeup
  • Excessively tanned

Yes. Venus Versa™ skin resurfacing treatments use radio frequency technology, which is proven to be safe and effective for all skin tones, even darker complexions.

Absolutely. A single treatment session typically takes only 15-30 minutes.

Most patients receive 3-4 treatments per area. The exact number will depend on each individual person and the area being treated.

Treatments are done 4 weeks apart.

Make sure your skin is clean. Do not apply any lotions, creams, perfumes, powder, or makeup before your treatment session, and avoid tanning. Remove all jewelry around the area being treated. If you have excessive hair on the treatment area, shave it beforehand. It also helps to be prepared with information about your medical history—the technician will likely ask about it.

DURING THE TREATMENT

Each session lasts 15-30 minutes, depending on the area being treated.

You will feel tiny pins on your skin followed by a little zap. Your face will then feel warm, like a sunburn.

Venus Versa™ skin resurfacing treatments may be slightly uncomfortable, but not painful. You’ll feel intense heat, similar to the feeling of sunburn, and your face will look red right after the treatment. For more aggressive treatments, your treatment provider may apply a topical numbing cream to reduce any discomfort.

AFTER THE TREATMENT

Your skin will be red and feel warm afterward, like a sunburn. You can ease this by fanning or exposing the area to cool air. Within the first 24 hours, only apply topicals that have been recommended or prescribed by your treatment provider. The warm feeling should go away within 24 hours.

Yes, but only for 24 hours post-treatment (or up to 5 days for more aggressive treatments), unlike lasers or other treatments where recovery or downtime lasts up to 10 days. Your skin will be red and sensitive for the first 24 hours.. After 24 hours, you may put on makeup and resume your regular skin care routine. You should always apply sunscreen (at least SPF 30) to maintain your results and prevent sun damage. Avoid rigorous exercise and hot baths or massages on the treatment area for the first 2 days after your session. Make sure to keep your skin clean and protected from the sun. Avoid any sort of tanning.

After your final treatment, your results will continue to improve. However, one touch-up session may be needed approximately every 6 months, depending on how your skin responds.

If your skin feels hot, you can use a fan to cool it down. Avoid touching or scratching the treatment area. For the first 24 hours, only apply products that are expressly recommended by your treatment provider, as there are many topicals that could cause severe irritation. After 24 hours, you should apply sunscreen (at least SPF 30), preferably one without chemicals. Also avoid rigorous exercise and hot baths or massages on the treatment area for the first 2 days after your session. Make sure to keep your skin clean and protected from the sun. Avoid any sort of tanning.

No. You should wait till 24 hours after your treatment to apply any makeup or lotion. Some topicals or skin care may be recommended by your treatment provider, and anything you apply should be done in-office or prescribed by them.
