Hair loss can be stressful and worrisome, especially when the scalp starts to show in places where it was never visible before. While nobody wants to lose control of their hair and how they look, hair loss is not a problem without a solution. In fact, there are many reasons for a person’s hair loss each with its own suggested course of action.
In some cases, situational stress or illness may cause temporary hair loss, with the follicles returning to normal once the body returns to a calm and healthier state. Certain medications can cause hairs to fall out, so finishing a recommended health treatment may be the answer. In many cases, though, the culprit behind hair loss is heredity. Low iron and low thyroid are also common culprits. Men and women may both find their hair develops generalized thinning or localized patches of hair loss as they age. This is known as androgenetic alopecia, and it has to do with your genetics. If your ancestors lost their hair in a predictable pattern as they aged on either your father’s or mother’s side, it is likely that you will too, to some degree.
